Watch the Hajj in Saudi Arabia—the world’s largest pilgrimage—live on YouTube

Nearly 2.5 million Muslims will officially begin the annual Islamic ritual of the Hajj on November 5, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Hajj represents one of the five pillars of Islam; it requires all Muslims around the world who are able-bodied and can afford it to perform the pilgrimage once in their lifetime.

The Hajj is an ancient ritual, but now, through the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information's YouTube channel, millions of people from around the world will be able to experience and comment on the event by tuning in via video.

Earlier this year, we worked with the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information to broadcast Islamic prayers live during Ramadan from the Holy Mosque in Mecca for the first time. In continued cooperation with the Ministry, we’re now able to live stream the Hajj on YouTube for the first time.

The stream will be live on Saturday, November 5 at http://www.youtube.com/hajjlive.

Messi Tak Ada Rivalitas dengan CR7

Lionel Messi kian gerah dengan wacana pembandingan dirinya dengan Cristiano Ronaldo, terlebih jelang ajang penghargaan Ballon d’Or tahun ini. Rivalitas antara dirinya dengan Ronaldo, kerap dibesar-besarkan media Spanyol.

Untuk itu, El Messiah bersikeras untuk menegaskan kembali, bahwa tak ada persaingan pribadi antara dirinya dengan pilar Real Madrid yang kerap di sebut CR7 tersebut. Messi juga menegaskan, bahwa selama ini, dirinya hanya berfokus pada performa untuk timnya, Barcelona.

“Saya tidak merasa ada persaingan dengan pemain lain. Target saya adalah, menciptakan musim terbaik lainnya untuk saya dan juga Barca. Kami ingin memenangkan titel besar lainnya, tapi saya menolak untuk dibandingkan dengan siapapun,” tutur Messi, sebagaimana disitat Tribal Football, Jumat (4/11/2011).

“Wacana seperti itu hanya dibuat oleh pihak-pihak luar saja. Yang saya pikirkan sampai saat ini adalah, bagaimana membawa tim saya tetap sukses,” pungkasnya.

Sejak Cristiano Ronaldo masuh ranah La Liga, publik dan media massa kian bergairah untuk mengikuti La Liga dengan intens. Mereka ingin melihat aksi dua mega bintang saling bertarung satu sama lain.

Hal itu kerap terjadi, ketika dua tim bebuyutan bertemu di sejumlah laga El Clasico. Persaingan mereka membela tim masing-masing tak terbantahkan. Karena itulah, Messi takkan terlepas dari wacana rivalitas dengan CR7, meski sang Messi sendiri menolak untuk dibanding-bandingkan.

Jadwal Pasti Laga Sepak Bola SEA Games

Stadion Gelora Bung Karno

Dalam jadwal yang dirilis oleh Indonesia SEA Games Organizing Committee (Inasoc) setelah pengambilan undian, pertandingan cabang sepak bola Grup A SEA Games XXVI dimulai pada 9 November 2011. Laga pembuka antara Singapura dan Malaysia pada pukul 16.00 dan dilanjutkan laga antara tuan rumah Indonesia dan Kamboja pada pukul 19.00.

Namun, jadwal ini direvisi pekan lalu. Jadwal delapan laga awal pertama di Grup A dimajukan. Laga pembuka yang dijadwalkan pada tanggal 9 November dimajukan ke awal pekan depan, Senin (7/11/2011).

Menurut informasi yang diterima, jadwal Grup A disesuaikan agar tidak tabrakan dengan jadwal laga babak kualifikasi Pra-Piala Dunia 2014 Grup E Zona Asia antara timnas senior Indonesia dan Iran pada 15 November yang akan digelar di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno.

Penyesuaian dilakukan karena semua laga di Grup A digelar di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno. Sementara itu, laga Grup B yang digelar antara 13 dan 15 November tidak berubah karena akan dilakukan di Stadion Lebak Bulus.

Sementara itu, kepastian informasi penjualan tiket masih belum diperoleh dari Inasocsebagai panitia penyelenggara SEA Games XXVI.

Mahasiswi Trisakti Ditemukan, Dea Tidak Diculik, Tapi Kabur dari Rumah

Jakarta - Setelah dilaporkan menghilang selama sepekan lebih, Nadia Dwi Rachma atau Dea (22), akhirnya ditemukan di Semarang, Jawa Tengah. Hilangnya Dea ini bukan lantaran diculik, melainkan kabur dari rumah orangtuanya di Bekasi.

"Tidak diculik, tapi dia pergi atas kemauannya sendiri," kata Kepala Unit I Subdit Jatanras Polda Metro Jaya AKP Budi Hermanto saat dihubungi detikcom, Kamis (3/11/2011) malam.

Belum diketahui pasti apa yang melatarbelakangi kepergian Dea ke Semarang itu. Namun polisi memastikan, Dea meninggalkan rumahnya seorang diri tanpa paksaan orang lain atau kelompok tertentu. "Nggak ada kaitannya sama kelompok tertentu. Dia pergi sendiri kok," ujarnya.

 

 

Budi mengatakan, ia belum bisa berkomentar lebih banyak terkait pelarian Dea itu. Penjelasan lengkap, akan disampaikan oleh Direktur Reskrimum Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Gatot Edy Pramono, Jumat (4/11) siang.

Dea ditemukan tim khusus Polda Metro Jaya di sebuah kosan di Perumahan Greenhouse, Manyaran, Semarang, Jawa Tengah pada Kamis (3/11) malam. Dea ditemukan seorang diri di kosan yang sudah ditempatinya sepekan lalu itu.

Dea meninggalkan rumahnya di Perumahan Galaxy, Bekasi pada tanggal 24 Oktober 2011 lalu. Dari Jakarta, Dea berangkat ke Semarang menggunakan kereta api. Belum diketahui secara pasti apa tujuan Dea ke Semarang. Dea sendiri dilaporkan hilang oleh orangtuanya pada 26 Oktober 2011 lalu.

WOW Kebijakan yang keren, Anggota Legislatif Naik Haji dengan APBD

Mekkah di Arab Saudi

Anggota DPRD Sulawesi Selatan berangkat ke tanah suci guna menuaikan ibadah haji menggunakan APBD setempat melalui undian.

Undian berhaji tersebut diberi jatah kepada tiap anggota komisi. Menurut tradisi DPRD Sulsel, tiap komisi hanya dapat satu jatah namun tahun ini ada satu komisi yang dapat dua jatah. Ongkos naik haji dibebankan pada dana Anggaran Pendapatan Belanja Daerah (APBD) Sulsel.

Anggota legislatif yang memenangkan undian berhaji tahun yakni legislator Partai Golkar Armin Mustamin Toputiri (komisi E), legislator PDK Andi Mustaman (Komisi E), dan legislator Golkar Andi Ina Kartika Sari (komisi A).

Selanjutnya legislator partai Demokrat Ni'matullah (komisi D), anggota fraksi Sulsel bersatu Muhtar Tayeb (Komisi B), legislator PDK Irwan Ince, dan legislator PKS Andi Akmal Pasluddin (wakil ketua).

Keberangkat tujuh anggota legislatif tersebut menuai kritikan. Pasalnya penggunaan dana APBD tersebut tidak memiliki hukum jelas. Keberangkatan legislator tersebut dituding sebagai tindakan korupsi berjamaah.

Koordinator Komisi Pemantau legislatif (Kopel) Syamsuddin Alimsyah mengatakan, pelaksanan ibadah haji dengan menggunakan dana APBD tersebut merupakan tindakan penipuan publik dan korup

"Tujuan mereka apa ke tanah suci, MUI mestinya mengeluarkan fatwa apakah itu halal atau haram. Intinya sembilan juta penduduk Sulsel yang berkontribusi untuk retribusi dan itu masuk APBD, nah apakah ke 9 juta penduduk Sulsel itu sudah mengihlaskan,"kata Syamsuddin kepada Tribun melalui telepon selulernya, Makassar, Rabu (2/11/2011)

"Inilah kesalahan mereka, mengapa pakai APBD untuk berhaji, saya sendiri sebagai penduduk Sulsel dan mengakui bahwa saya tidak ikhlas pakai uang itu. Saya tidak ikhlas karena di Sulsel ini masih banyak masalah yang harus di atasi seperti gizi buruk dan banyak lagi masalah sosial ekonomi yang belum diselesaikan pemerintah,"tegas Syamsuddin.

Shipping the Google in Google+

A few weeks ago Larry mentioned that we’d start shipping the Google part of Google+. The Android team then launched Ice Cream Sandwich, with a focus on improved sharing via Google+. And today we're rolling out two more Google+ features that integrate with two more Google products: YouTube and Chrome.

YouTube
It's no secret that YouTube is filled with tons of great content (from inspiring speeches to music videos to honey badgers). We wanted to bring YouTube directly into Google+—as well as make it easier to watch and share your favorites—so we're launching a YouTube "slider" in the stream. Here’s how it works:

• Mouse over the new YouTube icon at the top right of Google+
• It'll slide out and ask, "What would you like to play"?
• Enter whatever you're in the mood for (like a topic or a musical artist)

We'll start playing a list of related videos in a new pop-up window, and if you move the pop-up elsewhere, you can still navigate your playlist from the slider:

Sharing YouTube videos with your circles also works (of course), but there's a nice little twist: the people you share with can open a related playlist directly from your post! Last but not least, we’re starting to include YouTube playlists in Google+ search results.

Chrome
We're also rolling out two new Google+ Chrome extensions:

• +1 button: +1 any webpage and share it with your circles
• Notifications: check your Google+ notifications while you browse the web

Of course, if you don't use Chrome, then you can use Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer. The new version—also rolling out today—includes these same sharing and notification features.

Giving you fresher, more recent search results

Search results, like warm cookies right out of the oven or cool refreshing fruit on a hot summer’s day, are best when they’re fresh. Even if you don’t specify it in your search, you probably want search results that are relevant and recent.

If I search for [olympics], I probably want information about next summer’s upcoming Olympics, not the 1900 Summer Olympics (the only time my favorite sport, cricket, was played). Google Search uses a freshness algorithm, designed to give you the most up-to-date results, so even when I just type [olympics] without specifying 2012, I still find what I’m looking for.

Given the incredibly fast pace at which information moves in today’s world, the most recent information can be from the last week, day or even minute, and depending on the search terms, the algorithm needs to be able to figure out if a result from a week ago about a TV show is recent, or if a result from a week ago about breaking news is too old.

We completed our Caffeine web indexing system last year, which allows us to crawl and index the web for fresh content quickly on an enormous scale. Building upon the momentum from Caffeine, today we’re making a significant improvement to our ranking algorithm that impacts roughly 35 percent of searches and better determines when to give you more up-to-date relevant results for these varying degrees of freshness.

• Recent events or hot topics. For recent events or hot topics that begin trending on the web, you want to find the latest information immediately. Now when you search for current events like [occupy oakland protest], or for the latest news about the [nba lockout], you’ll see more high-quality pages that might only be minutes old. 

• Regularly recurring events. Some events take place on a regularly recurring basis, such as annual conferences like [ICALP] or an event like the [presidential election]. Without specifying with your keywords, it’s implied that you expect to see the most recent event, and not one from 50 years ago. There are also things that recur more frequently, so now when you’re searching for the latest [NFL scores], [dancing with the stars] results or [exxon earnings], you’ll see the latest information. 

• Frequent updates. There are also searches for information that changes often, but isn’t really a hot topic or a recurring event. For example, if you’re researching the [best slr cameras], or you’re in the market for a new car and want [subaru impreza reviews], you probably want the most up to date information. 

There are plenty of cases where results that are a few years old might still be useful for you. [fast tomato sauce recipe] certainly saved me after a call from my wife reminded me I had volunteered to make dinner! On the other hand, when I search for the [49ers score], a result that is a week old might be too old.

Different searches have different freshness needs. This algorithmic improvement is designed to better understand how to differentiate between these kinds of searches and the level of freshness you need, and make sure you get the most up to the minute answers.

Update 11/7/11: To clarify, when we say this algorithm impacted 35% of searches, we mean at least one result on the page was affected, as opposed to when we've said noticeably impacted in the past, which means changes that are significant enough that an average user would notice. Using that same scale, this change noticeably impacts 6 - 10% of searches, depending on the language and domain you're searching on.
